Auckland Latin Mass Chaplaincy Choir

Auckland Latin Mass Chaplaincy

The Auckland Latin Mass Chaplaincy Choir gathered a group of talented musicians (both men and women) from the chaplaincy to bring greater glory to God with our voices. As a Catholic choir for the Traditional Latin Mass, the focus of the choir is primarily on the singing of Gregorian chants during the Sacred Liturgy. On top of Gregorian Chant, our Sacred Music Program carries on the sacred liturgical traditions of polyphony from the great Renaissance composers such as William ByrdGiovanni Palestrina and Tomas Victoria to more modern composers such as Rev. Carlos Rossini (USA) , Delfino Thermignon (Italy), Oreste Ravanello (Italy), Philip Stopford (UK), and Ronan Rielly (Australia) during the Holy Mass.

          Teshbuhta

The Teshbuhta Choir is a group of dedicated singers united by a shared desire to ‘sing praise’ (Teshbuhta) in the East Syriac/Chaldean tradition. The choir offers to sing ancient hymns and chants, preserving the rich musicological heritage of the Church by using Syriac—the modern form of Aramaic, the language spoken by Isho M’shiha (Christ). Teshbuhta also reimagines traditional melodies through new polyphonic arrangements, bringing a new dimension to the beloved ancient chants.

The choir sing for certain feast days and events organised by the church.
